Dark Forces is the production alias of myself, Matt Robinson, a young musician based in London, UK.
After learning to DJ at an early age, I went on to produce my own tracks, and in turn formed an underground breakbeat record label in the year 2000, named Bassquake Recordings. As well as producing electronic breakbeat tracks, I also dabble in the more experimental and ambient side of things, as well as everything in between, including drum 'n' bass, nu-skool breaks, techno, trip hop, and soundtrack style pieces.
Influences in my music range from abstract electronic artists such as Aphex Twin, Future Sound of London and Autechre, to contempary dance producers such as LTJ Bukem, Metal Headz and Underworld, to vintage seminal composers such as Steve Reich. My love for music was the basis for forming the late Bassquake web site 8 years ago, which went on to become one of the largest archives of classic, deleted dance music records on the internet.
I've always been an absolute film fanatic since a child, both of mainstream and independant movies, and am now more than ever interested in donating some music for those in need of free, but high quality material to use in their productions. It's strictly due to love of film, and other forms of creativity, that I've uploaded my music, and currently ask for no payment.
In addition, I'm more than happy to rework all music featured here in order to make it more suited for your particular project, such as providing instrumental versions, or remixes done without the use of beats, and so on. Original work can also be produced if needed. Please feel free to get in touch by clicking "Hire Me" on the right, and e-mailing me through CuePop.
